New Module: SEO for EE 2
DigitalSurgesons released a new SEO module today that allows you to easily control some content metadata and hopefully improve your search engine optimization. It isn’t the first add-on available that does this but DigitalSurgeons says that this add-on “does just enough [for them] without a cumbersome implementation or code base.”
The SEO module a creates a tab (appropriately labeled “SEO”) and allows you to enter title, keywords and description for each entry. Similar to functionality we’ve seen in existing add-ons like LG Better Meta, you can set default titles, descriptions and keywords, include robots metadata and more.
The module is free and available on GitHub (Dear All Developers, not everyone finds it easy to download from GitHub. Please include a direct download link of a zip file for your add-ons. Hugs, Ryan).

Hmm

Nevermind. Now that the EE forums are back up, it says to rename it ‘seo’.

Glad you figured it out, Kyle. This is why I made that parenthetical comment about not only offering downloads at Github. It can be confusing.

Hi everyone -
Sorry for the installation confusion - GitHub is currently used because we are pushing updates fairly often based on users’ feedback. We’ll definitely be making an easier install download soon :D
There’s also a continuing thread in the new forums for anyone who wants to post feedback, bugs or questions there:

Thanks!

As EEinsider points out this is not the first plugin/module to offer SEO friendly content which to my knowledge was created by the awesome Leevi Graham. For a more in depth plugin with support you can look towards Leevi Graham’s Better META SEO plugin which he sells for a very reasonable $49.95. His plugin features a wealth of additional features as well as support for the small fee. See that at http://leevigraham.com/cms-customisation/expressionengine/lg-better-meta/
@Ryan - Love the Blog and your Book! http://drp.ly/1m51a2

I found a nasty little surprise when I uninstalled this Module on the EE 2.1 (Build 20100810). The required “title” field vanished in my Publish forms.
It took me awhile to figure out who was the culprit. If you encounter this issue, you’ll need to empty the “exp_layout_publish” table in your database.
Cheers!
