Mountee Breaks in EE 2.8
A popular tool for connecting to EE and editing your templates breaks when running on ExpressionEngine 2.8.
EE 2.8 changed how login works, so Mountee no longer connects properly. We’re looking into it.

In a follow-up tweet, Mountee links to two EllisLab blog posts detailing the new EE 2.8 features on Sessions, Login Modals, and Secure Forms and Cleaner Control Panel URLs.
Unfortunately, these changes in #eecms 2.8 break Mountee and will take a lot of work to fix: http://t.co/m7stJshgME http://t.co/qkV1G2oPYZ

The “a lot of work to fix” note isn’t reassuring. Let’s hope they can make it happen.

I’m not completely familiar with all the Mountee features, but I’ve been getting along with “Libraree” for my editing-templates-outside-of-the-CP needs.
*HOWEVER* I’m sorry to say that the Libraree code *has problems* such as:
1. Changing your error_reporting() level.
2. Using a dumb method of detecting a directory.
3. Uses PHP Short Tags “

(coments dont like short tags either… )
So while it works great after correcting those issues, ... those should not be issues in a commercial add on.

It also doesn’t appear to work in EE2.8 so it might suffer from some of the same issues Mountee does.

I am pretty disappointed that EllisLab has not stepped in and either helped out the Mountee guys bring their product up to speed with v2.8, or bought the thing from them and made it work with v2.8. I guess maybe the feeling is everyone should be using text files due to versioning.
