Simplified EE Control Panel Theme
Jesse Bennett-Chamberlin, whose work you know from the current EE control panel and the ExpressionEngine.com website, released today a new Control Panel theme for EE 1.6.
He created it quickly for a project and is offering it free for everyone.
I’m currently working on a project that involves a lot of EE development, so I took a couple hours last night to tweak the default Control Panel theme. I’ve only tested it in Safari… so your milage may vary… but feel free to give it a try.

The new theme features a darker header and dark gray tabs. If you desire to give the EE CP a different look, check out the theme. To install it unzip the downloaded file and upload it to themes/cp_themes and then toggle to it in the Control Panel.

Pretty interesting to see EE in a NON-fluid layout! After designing and building a number of different add-ons, that’s one of the things i find to be most challenging as to the UI. Fluid ain’t my bag

I test, looks great! but warning! if you use Cartthrob, destroy all Cartthrob panel.

Runaway, I noticed the same thing - looks to be bad practices on Carttrhobs end - their forced horizontal width is way outside of standard.

yes Brandon, the Jesee themes looks great, but for that reason of somethings maybe looks bad etc… I prefer keep things more simple possible, all out of the box… without touch much, minus extension and plugins possible and hacks etc… just necessary things… Just a personal opinion.

I tweaked the theme a bit to get it to work with Cartthrob, if anyone is interested:

Thanks for posting that update Brandon… do you mind if I update the version on my site to include your tweaks?

Sure! What might be better is to do something similar to the other commented out blocks you have at the bottom, that way its not overly wide unless it has to be.
