CodeCanyon Begins Selling EE Add-ons

CodeCanyon, a website that sells scripts and add-ons for a number of different platforms, has opened up an ExpressionEngine department of their store. All of their add-ons are compatible with ExpressionEngine 2.1, and as of this writing, they all appear to be made by Phil Sturgeon.

The current list of add-ons includes Mapper, Text plugin, HTML plugin, Widgets and Multi Language Support. They are all pretty inexpensive, ranging from $7 to $27. The Widgets module looks particularly interesting!

The comparisons to the venerable Devot:ee are unavoidable, but hopefully CodeCanyon will grow and the EE add-on marketplace can enjoy a little healthy competition. Check out CodeCanyon’s ExpressionEngine Add-on store to learn more.

Hmm… the plug-ins feel a little trivial to be paying for (except the Widgets one, that looks sweet). Also: this further fragments purchasing of plug-ins to yet another party. If I go serious shopping for a large-scale project, I have to shop at:

- devot-ee
- pixel & tonic
- buildwithstructure.com
- expressionengine-addons.com

I understand wanting to market & sell your own product, but I think it’s not helping EE as a total package… Just my 2 cents.

CodeCanyon does support 1.6.x addons too, hopefully nobody submits any as I’ll have to install 1.6.x to review them. :-p

Strangely the trivial ones are doing better than Widgets, but I’m confident that will start to sell soon especially when I get some of my other widgets in there.

Steven,

We have P&T’s add-ons on devot:ee, and it shouldn’t be too long before NSM add-ons and Structure are on there as well.  Also, anyone selling on CC can also sell on devot:ee, although their policies towards developers are not as easy on devs selling multiple places.
