W3Techs CMS Market Share Report

I don’t know how reliable their data is (they collect it via surveys) but W3Techs has a useful market share trends table for content management systems.

WordPress is, of course, on top with more than 50% of the market. ExpressionEngine sits in 11th with around 1%. It also looks like they’re including some forum software (e.g. phpBB), too.

The trend report looks pretty steady for everyone.

Didn’t once someone from EL say “we are selling MojoMotor by the hundreds”? Doesn’t seem to be enough though.

I know this may seem trivial, and technically Wordpress can manage content as can phpBB, but I’m not sure they’re comparing Apples for Apples on this graph. To me Wordpress is ‘Blogging’ software, phpBB is ‘Forum’ software, neither I would class as a CMS per se.

Would anyone happen to know where to get market share report for only Video CMS? Not the general CMS market.
