EE Rich Text Editor Reactions
The video from EllisLab featuring the new EE rich text editor is making the rounds and people are starting to chime in on what it means and how they see this playing out vis รก vis third party add-ons.
What excites me about the new rich text editor for #eecms 2.5 is the flexibility it lends to developers needing additional “tools”

One of the best selling points IMHO for buying #eecms third party add-ons is the incredible, and free, support you get from the devs.

I, for one, welcome our new #eecms rich text editor.

Native rich text editor for #eecms at last - hope it handles pasting from Word bit.ly/wVGp1f

I don’t think it does according to what we see in the video but I’m not sure if that’s planned or not.
What’s your reaction to this? Tweet EE Insider or hashtag your thoughts with #eecms and we’ll find it.

a rich text editor in EE is way overdue by now. Integrated with EE, such a tool should increase sales and enhance viability for EE.
Imagine making a car and not including a cool CD player or a cool GPS, simply because some add-on developers sell such tools for a living. This defies business logic.
EE owners should go out of their way to purchase/acquire a lot of existing, cool EE tools from add-on developers, to be integrated into EE. This is how other companies like Microsoft, Google, and Apple got where they are today. Why not borrow from business strategies that worked for other popular companies?
