Learn ExpressionEngine Today

Over a series of 8 videos, watch and learn as Ryan builds an entire ExpressionEngine website from beginning to end. Get started now.

EE Documentation

Update: This project is no longer available. See ExpressionEngine Starter Files for something similar.

Kenny Meyers of Blue Flavor has created an easy way for you to add documentation to your EE client sites: EE Documentation.

EE Documentation is a group of templates, css and images that you can use to build documentation for your client installs. The idea actually spawned by one Mr. Ryan Irelan and his excellent ExpressionEngine Screencasts. In particular, his episode 12 screencast about preparing sites for clients.

You get (for free) a set of styled templates, print stylesheet and a clean, simple interface that you can easily implement into ExpressionEngine using Kenny’s easy-to-follow instructions.

To get a better idea of what the templates look like, check out the demo of EE Documentation.

Wow!  That is a great resource for clients.  I usually give them a .pdf but I like this online option because they can search and it’s non-linear so they can find what they are looking for easier.

Kenny, it should be said that you are a badassmofo. That’s gang related slang for you’re awesome.

Good idea. Great idea. Since I’m working for one client, I’m going to use it for bug reports as well as documentation.

Kenny, I salute you sir.

Hey everyone,

Just want to say thank you for the kind works. The design is probably going to get a refresh, I’m going to drag BF’s Kevin Tamura into it, so hopefully it’ll be even spicier soon.

Thanks again for the words, as well as to Greg for the street-slang lesson.

Cheers,
Kenny

Dude! I couldn’t resist downloading this and I set it up in about 10 minutes. Got it working without a hitch.

One thing to note in the readme file: It mentions modifying the _branding_and_navigation.php file if desired to change the logo, but the actual file name is _branding_and_search. No big deal, it was obvious but if I had had one o’ those 90 minute IPAs…

Great work and many thanks!
Jack Brighton

Jack,

Glad you liked it. I will change the docs with the correction. Thank you.

Cheers,
Kenny

Is this discontinued? Project not found on GitHub…

Rory09:58 on 04.29.2010

Hi. The Github link and the “demo of EE Documentation” link does not work. Is this still available? I just heard about it in this screencast:
http://5by5.tv/eepodcast/15
but it is not here. Boo.

links not working! Please edit or delete post.

Chuck, that project has been killed. I’ve updated the post to make that known.
