Add Tabs for better development
Is there an area of the control panel that you need regular access to, but don’t want to click multiple times to get to? Perhaps extensions, weblog management a particular module’s control panel. Add a new tab to the control panel.
it’s dead easy. Navigate to the page you want and then click the “new tab” link at the top right of the screen. Fill in the name of what you want to call the tab, submit and voila you are set.
Add as many tabs as you want or need.

This is a great idea. I often do this for my clients when I set up an admin account for them so that they can quickly access parts of the site (e.g., certain modules) without having to drill too far down in the CP.

I do this as well. However, I am unclear if it is possible to have that setup act as a “default” for other members of that same group. It would be ideal to be able to set one up for maximum ease and then just have new members of that same group get the same functionality without having to modify them individually.
Can that be done and I just don’t know it?

Bridget,
As far as I know it’s not possible to set that up on a group basis, but that would definitely be helpful if it were possible.
Jason,
Actually I do this in conjunction with the hide module tab extension. so that clients can only see the modules they have access to.

Actually it is possible to set up default tabs for member groups, using the LG Add CP Tabs extension:

I always create extra tabs for myself and my key admin person, but the real great tip here (shame it is uncredited) is the recommendation of the LG Add CP Tabs extension - is there anything Levi hasn’t thought of already?! This will be a must have for my EE installations from now on, and I’ll add it retrospectively where I can.

Oh No name, that extension is excellent and I, like Emily, will be using it in the future on all installs.
Thanks for sharing, too bad you didn’t leave your name for credit.
